I have been stating unequivocally that the United States is a fascist regime for longer than I care to recall. I have always held my reservations about naming America the ‘leading democracy’ and ‘beacon of peace,’ because it is simply not justified when considering the history of this nation. The United States has always been a violent aggressor, and has spent 93% of its history at continuous war. In many ways, the so-called ‘freedoms’ and ‘security’ that US citizens enjoy are due to this unsettling truth, and America has been, for the most part, spared the very atrocities of conflict on its own territory that its victims have endured. Notable exceptions were 9/11 and Pearl Harbor, which certainly pale in comparison to the damage done during Bush’s War on Terror campaign in the Middle East, or any of the other countless conflicts over its nearly 250-year history. In fact, these regions have never, and likely will never, recover from attacks perpetrated by US forces.
Although this time feels similar, the illegal removal of Maduro in Venezuela is certainly one of the most-dangerous operations conducted by a US President, and the reasons seem clear when considering Trump’s precarious position. By the time the US populace recognizes the grave danger that a warmongering President and impotent government pose for themselves and the world at large, it will be too late.
Self Preservation

Trump’s justification for such aggressive regime change in Venezuela feels half-baked at best, and psychopathic at worst. With flimsy arguments, like fentanyl operations and undemocratic elections, Trump and his sycophants have attempted to justify what is clearly an unconstitutional abuse of power on the part of a US president. Under the Trump regime, this is just another day in America, where it seems that the rule of law has been suspended. Trump has never shown any respect for where his powers are supposed to end, and has consistently and relentlessly striven to expand his own authority in ways that certainly call into question America’s status as a ‘democracy.’ More concerning still is the certainty that Trump does not understand anything about the repercussions of his actions, and these operations are being conducted by a Fox News host who has already been implicated in impeachable offenses. It is time that we call this what it is - a hostile takeover of the United States by a demagogue with no moral compass or boundaries.
Beyond the pain and suffering that will undoubtably follow for the people of Venezuela, the people of the United States will also feel the impact of these egregious violations of international law. In pursuit of quenching its uncontrollable thirst for war and bloodshed, America has subverted resources that should have been utilized to empower its citizenry to further its imperialist ambitions abroad.
Despite claims that the takeover of Venezuela by the United States will result in prosperity, there is no evidence to suggest that US citizens will benefit from this illegal seizure of oil reserves and natural resources abroad. Instead, in a time when US citizens are already struggling to afford basic necessities, the resulting inflation and demand for resources to fuel the American war machine will only serve to further exacerbate these issues. It must also be considered that declaring war is not only a diversion from the Epstein files, but may serve as grounds to suspend mid-term elections this year, cementing Trump and his regime in absolute power for the foreseeable future. Just ask Steve Bannon.
Moreover, the United States is clearly signaling to the world that there are no limits to its hunger for power, money, or control, even if it means trampling over allies and adversaries, alike. As has been the case since Trump’s first term, his administration has consistently advanced with the goal of testing the true boundaries of its ‘checks and balances.’ Sadly, reality has proven that these institutions, in which so many Americans have placed their trust, have failed, again and again. Nothing appears capable of curtailing the abuse of this American tyrant, who has already been impeached twice, convicted of felonies, implicated in a global pedophile and sex-trafficking operation, credibly accused (and convicted) of rape by scores of women, and mercilessly abused his powers as Commander in Chief.
Trump has no reservations about restricting the freedoms of Americans at home, either. The argument can be made that the empowerment of ICE in conducting raids in major US cities, as well as the use of a military presence to demonstrate his power over those who object to him, was a test case for what is to come. What began as American Protectionism so many years ago has devolved into a thirst for boundless control over its citizenry, and I fail to recall a time in American history in which the government has come so close to realizing this ambition as it has today.
Those still lulled into a false sense of security by the ‘American Dream’ are sure to be awakened to a nightmare. I understand why many Americans fail to recognize the dangers that this fascist regime poses to their individual rights - for many of the older generation, the United States is all they know of the world, and the economic opportunities resulting from our victory in WWII were enough to ensure American prosperity. However, since then, America has failed miserably to invest in future generations so that they, too, can experience the freedoms enjoyed by the parents and grandparents.
There is no rule of law any longer in the United States. The rich and powerful have successfully taken control, and everyone else will be forced into submission. Your right to travel, maintain control of your money, speak openly about your opinions of the government, and nearly all of the other ‘freedoms’ that are promised in our Constitution will be annulled. Now is the time to consider this, and make your escape plan. For some ideas on how to initiate this, check out my article here.
Remember - the revolution will not be televised. By the time you have surrendered your freedoms, it will be too late to reclaim them.
